1. International Yoga Festival
From 1st to 7th March, by the Ganges, Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh hosts one of the most awaited global celebration. Stretching over a week, the festival witnesses the yoga trainers and experts across the world who come and disperse their knowledge among everyone. Also must-attend is the mystical Ganga Arti on the Ghats of the river Ganga that mesmerizes one and all.
2. Lathmar Holi
According to the Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna came to Radha’s village to tease her, when he was chased away by the women of Barsana, where the only temple dedicated to Radha exists. Hence, Holi in Barsana, UP is not mere a festival of color, but also lets women playfully hit men with sticks, while the men sing songs to tease them. 3. Jaipur Elephant Festival
Elephant festivals cover all over the calendar for March, one of these is the Jaipur Elephant Festival. The polychromatic, grand event takes place on the day of Holi, 23rd March in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Elephant Festival was initiated keeping in mind the heaps of tourists flooding the Pink City. Marked by a range of interesting activities, Jaipur’s day-long Elephant Festival is an event that should not be missed.
4. Shigmotsav
Goa’s biggest spring festival and their way of celebrating Holi is Shigmo. The 14-day long show of Goan ethnicity and mythology is displayed at the annual Shigmo parade from 16th to 31st March, 2014 in various parts of Goa. This festival marks the change of seasons, with local dances, parades, drums and colors all around.
5. Paripally Gajamela
A dazzling and extortionate cavalcade of elephants, a ceremonial shadow puppet show, lively orchestra and countless cultural practices meet at Paripally Kodimootil Sree Bhadrakaali Temple, Kollam to actualize the perfect Kerala festival. You can feast your eyes with the state’s popular elephant festival, Paripally Gajamela on 6th March.
